North East winemakers have welcomed the State Government’s allocation of $2.5 million to help growers impacted by the fires, with technical advice to help make decisions for their business.

This funding means the extent of the smoke taint will be able to be accurately assessed, yet it is still too early to tell the damage to the grapes.

King Valley producer Natalie Pizzini hopes that it won't be as bad as the previous fires that affected the 2007 vintage.
