Over 1200 protesters gathered today in Albury’s CBD over the mismanagement of the Murray Darling Basin Plan.

140 trucks also drove through Albury with strong messaging on their load to convey they’re struggling with a zero per cent water allocation.

local Farrer MP, Sussan Ley, argued that she would approve to pause the plan if all of her electorates were more cooperative about the idea.

"I'd be fine with it but they don't, the Murrumbidgee doesn't, Coleambally doesn't and there are quite a few industries in the area where these people farm that don't want to pause the plan," Ms Ley said.

A petition was then handed to Ms Ley to pause the plan with 85,000 signatures.

The protest was an emotional and powerful expression of frustration for many, including one farmer who made the trip from Deniliquin.

Mr Martin argues that it is all about politics and the mismanagement of the water has had a devastating effect on communities.

“There’s no doubt we need to have a complete review of what’s going on. What government have done to us is absolutely nothing, we have had suicides from this, we need to pause the plan and get some sensibility about what’s happening with the water, instead of it all being about politics,” he said.
