World-class cycling, sport upgrades, and much more factored into the Indigo Budget

Indigo Shire Council has released its draft budget for 2019/2020, with many highlights for the North East in the budget.

For the finance followers, the budget reports a total operating income of $34.538 million with total expenditure of $30.085 million, including a $10.76 million capital works program, and an underlying cash surplus over two years.

Adventure lovers will be excited that the plan has included world-class cycling tracks to the shire.

Projects include The Rutherglen Wine Loop, Stage 3 of the Wagunyah to Lake Moodemere Cycle Trail, an extension of the Beechworth to Osbourne’s Flat Trail and The Beechworth to Yakandandah Epic Mountain Bike Trail.

Other highlights of the draft budget include over $800,000 in sport and recreation facility upgrades, removal of spectator fees at Indigo Shire’s five swimming pools, $430,000 for road resealing across Indigo Shire, $110,000 for the Beechworth Railway Goods Shed refurbishment and $160,000 towards the Chiltern Flood Study.
