Police not taking any chances over the Easter period

This week a group of campers and others have been caught breaching strict isolation rules.

A man from Mount Beauty has copped a penalty notice for visiting a friend's home on Monday. He allegedly told police he needed to pick up some toilet paper, but after a thorough inspection that was not the case.

A man has been fined $1652 for driving erratically on the front lawn of homes in Chiltern on Tuesday.

Five people were removed from Granthams Bend Campgrounds in Wahgunyah on Wednesday following bans making it off limits to the public.

It is a sore reminder that North East Police are not taking any chances.


Operation Nexus

Wangaratta Police are launching operation Nexus as part of a state-wide operation this Easter long weekend.

Officers will continue to be out in force despite stage three restrictions, requiring people to only travel if necessary.

The operation will also target speed, fatigue, distraction and social distancing non-compliance.
