Local planned burning

Forest Fire Management have commenced their burn off program in the North East.

Article continues below

Tomorrow there will be more smoke in the region as the burn offs continue in areas near Beechworth, Mt Beauty and Stanley.

These are in addition to the Baranduda burn that was ignited today and caused some confusion with some calling Triple Zero (000) thinking it was an out of control fire.

If you have a heart or lung condition (including asthma), are pregnant, under 14 or are over 65, please be cautious of the smoke in the area and call 000 immediately if you experience wheezing, chest tightness or difficulty breathing.

Local traffic should also be aware of the possibility of changed traffic conditions.

The CFA have reminded everyone that Fire Restrictions are still in place until May 1st.
