North East Support & Action For Youth have received a donation which means the program can expand its work from Wangaratta to Benalla to assist in feeding youth unable to help themselves.

The donation from the Geoff and Helen Handbury Foundation along with the support through the Ace Radio Group will see NESAY able to appoint a Project Director.

CEO Leah Waring says this means the program can move into Benalla to partner with local cafes and provides meals that are healthy and nutritious at subsidized prices.

“There are children in Benalla that cannot afford or get to choose their meals from day to day and we know the program is equally needed there,” she said.

Leah further added that previous donations from the Wangaratta community really show how much we care.

“The donations the Fair Feed program receives on a monthly basis means that program is nearly funding itself. I think that’s a tremendous indication of a community that cares for its young people,” she said.

NESAY will also be looking for Mentors around the community to be able to assist in areas such as teaching the youth how to drive.
