Bright police are investigating after a light plane landed at Mount Hotham Airport from Moorabbin Airport in Melbourne.

A pilot and his passenger are now facing a COVID-19 fine.

The man claimed his primary residence was in Dinner Plain, but following inquiries that was not the case.

The Alpine Cluster Commander Sergeant Doug Incoll from Bright Police Station says anyone in breach of the COVID-19 rules faces a fine of up to $1652.

Stay at home orders are in place for metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.
