Police to investigate stakes found in Victorian race track
Metal stakes have been driven into a Victorian race track in what is alleged to be an attempt to injure horses and riders.
Thursday’s meeting at Kilmore was abandoned after two 40cm metal star pickets were discovered in the track.

While all pieces of metal are believed to have been removed, Racing Victoria opted to play it safe and cancelled the day’s racing.
“It could have been catastrophic, there’s no doubt about that,” Kilmore Race Club chief Ben Murphy told Melbourne radio's Tom Elliott."
It’s now in the hands of police.
