A group of 40,000 vouchers for $200 each went online at 10am, and they were all gone before 10.30.

The vouchers were redeemable for travel between 27 January and 1 April, with successful applicants able to redeem their voucher after they had travelled and spent their money – ensuring cash flows immediately to businesses in the regions.

To be eligible you had to be a Victorian resident aged 18 or over, and spend a minimum $400 on accommodation, experiences or tours in regional Victoria.

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula said the vouchers make it easier for Victorians to get out and enjoy their own backyards, while also supporting hard-hit communities.

“More people travelling in regional Victoria means more money over the counter for businesses that are recovering after a very difficult 2020, and more jobs for local workers.”

The first round of the travel scheme saw 70,000 vouchers allocated, with the High Country one of the top five destinations for holiday makers.

A further 40,000 vouchers will become available on 30 March.
