BOM Weather Meteorologists predict the worst days will be Wednesday and Thursday, with widespread areas of rain and thunderstorms expected.

Tuesday night is expected to be a wet night and it was possible severe thunderstorm and flash flooding warnings would be issued across Victoria on Wednesday.

Weather bureau meteorologist Christopher Arvier says it's going to be a wet few days.

“There’s certainly a change moving across the state and we’re advising people not to get too used to this nice weather we are looking at right now,” Mr Arvier said.

"The heaviest falls and thunderstorm risk won’t be until Wednesday and Thursday, where most of Victoria is expected to receive rainfall totals between 15mm to 30mm, while North East residents may see falls between 30mm to 50mm."

Regional Officer for the SES John Newland says they'e ready for what's ahead.

"Make sure your gutters and downpipes are clear. With those thunderstorms there can be wind, so make sure your trampolines and spring items are put away. Always remember 132 500 is our number and never drive through flood waters."
